Lost Dog Treks 9 days and 35 Miles Through Wilderness To Find Her Way Home

A dog named Georgia went missing the day when she separated from her human during a hike. The hike took place in a rugged region in Southern California. Kris, 64, is an experienced hiker and took her dog Georgia and her other dog to the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve on June 27. This is what she said to ABC News about Georgina:“Halfway to the waterfall, I heard the dog barking and it ran off. She gets so focused on critters and it’s hard to pull her away. In the past, she’s run away a couple of times before on walks but she would come back.”

Georgina is an 8-year old Shar-Pei mix that was a rescue dog from hurricane Katrina. That means that the dog knows one thing or two about surviving. After getting lost the dog must have put those amazing skills into work because otherwise she would not have been able to get back home. Not only did she survive for 9 long day-nights. This dog walks 35 miles and get back home safe and sound.
When the dog got back home, she could not believe her eyes. After nine days Anderson had lost faith that the dog would return. But she did and she was safe and sound. She only was a little bit dehydratedm and lost a few pounds along the way.

“It sounds corny, I know, she’s a dog – but to me she’s my baby,” Anderson told NBC 7. “I never thought I’d see her again, and she’s special to me.”
